How to Land a Job in the Real Estate Industry

Work in real estate can be a fulfilling and lucrative career. Many find this career appealing because if you are good at what you do you can literally make more money than some doctors and lawyers and yet you do not need a college degree at all. In fact most real estate agents invest very little money into their training and education, but instead get most of their training through on the job experience. So what exactly does it take to become a real estate agent?

Get Certified

So, although you do not need to go to school for 4 or 5 years, there is some education involved. Real estate training courses will help get you ready for a certification exam. Most courses are $2-300, which is nothing compared to the thousands people spend on their college degrees. Once you have finished your training, you will need to obtain certification for the area in which you live. You can learn more about exactly what is required in your area by simply speaking with a real estate agent nearby.

Get Started

Once you are actively certified you should be able to find employment with a real estate agency in an entry level position. Do not be discouraged if you are initially hired in an administrative role, or as an assistant. This will still give you the opportunity to learn about the industry and learn specifics tricks of the trade. This will also give you the opportunity to be bringing in a paycheck while you are still learning and getting experience.

Real estate can be a highly rewarding and financially satisfying career for those who are willing to work hard and be patient for their opportunities to come in.
